About The Role
  The Research and Development Department are seeking a Technical Project Manager to coordinatemanage and ensure delivery of a wide range of bespoke solutions to support the timing, televising and organisation of Formula One events.
Main Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Lead and direct complex bespoke projects in the design of high quality products in Formula One.
  • To be responsible and take ownership for projects from concept through to final implementation, going live, and handover to operational teams.
  • Manage parallel projects and project teams comprising of in-house developers and engineers, external contractors and development houses, plus liaise with other stakeholders including operational staff.
  • Use lean but structured project management approaches in an agile, fast paced and exciting environment.
  • Ensure projects are kept aligned with business interests, including on-budget and on-time.
  • Provide regular updates to both team and group manager on team/project progress.
  • Quickly gain a suitable understand of new technologies, processes, strategies and tools as led by both company direction and project requirements.
About You
Qualifications - (Desirable)
  • Member of Project Management Institute/APMG
  • Honours degree in technical discipline
  • Agile – Certified SCRUM Master
  • Prince 2 


  • Has led large (>1 year, >£1M budget), high-profile, multi discipline technical projects
  • At least 4 - 6 years project management experience
  • Proven track record of end to end technical project delivery
  • Experience of delivering projects in an agile environment
  • Experience of managing budgets, forecasting and dealing with suppliers, contractors and other third parties
  • Must come from a software or engineering background and has positively added to the role the capacity to lead and manage highly performing teams
  • Working in a matrix environment where project team members will come from various departments and not necessarily report to the TPM
  • Offshore/ 3rd party management (desirable)
  • Experience of company representation in a professional setting e.g. at conferences of working groups (desirable)
  • Experience in an in-house client facing role (desirable)
  • Experience in enterprise software project implementations (desirable)
  • Able to appreciate transition of software/ solutions to a formal support and services team (desirable)
Knowledge & Skills
  • Good understanding of software estimating and planning
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Good planning skills, inluding the ability to priorituse and multi-task effectively
  • Solid stakeholder management skills
  • Disciplined thinker, capable of working across organisational boundaries in a demanding, high output environment 
  • Understanding of software and electronics disciplines to allow sound technical decision making 
  • Knowldge and clear undertanding of Agile - in particular SCRUM and its benefits (desirable) 
  • PM and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, TFS, Slack, MS Project (Desirable)
  • Appreciation of at least a few of these areas:
    •  Programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, Python, Embedded C
    • Database technologies such as MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and MongoDB
    • UML SysML
    • Schematic and PCB design
    • CAD
