About The Role
The Events Department are looking for a Senior Commercial Manager, on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, to support the Head of Commercial Affairs - F1 Festivals in the day-to-day management of the department's commercial relationships on a global basis.
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities
 
  1. To support the Head of Commercial – F1 Festivals with developing and executing commercial opportunities relating to the F1 Festivals programme, including:

    • Sponsorship packages;

    • Media partnerships (broadcasters, radio and print media);

    • Hospitality;

    • Food and beverages;

    • Merchandise sales and other vending opportunities; and

    • Licensing the right to operate an F1 Festival to a third party.

  2. The above includes:

    • Preparing sponsorship decks;

    • Negotiating sponsorship and other commercial deals with counterparties using different commercial models on a win-win basis;

    • Managing local sales agencies in each territory that an F1 Festival is taking place in;

    • Managing and updating the commercial inventory for each Festival;

    • Account management of commercial partners (e.g. ensuring delivery of their commercial rights at relevant Festivals);

    • Developing viable commercial models for promoters to stage F1 Festivals under a licence provided by F1; and

    • Supporting the Director of Events and Head of Commercial – F1 Festivals in evaluating prospective locations for future F1 Festivals.

  3. Working with external stakeholders (local sales agencies, operational delivery agencies, local governments, race promoters, sponsors and other commercial partners) to ensure effective delivery of commercial initiatives at each Festival.

  4. Working closely with internal F1 departments (particularly Sponsorship, Race Promotion, Media Rights and Marketing) to ensure that commercial partnerships for each Festival are executed in alignment with wider F1 objectives and initiatives.

  5. Working closely with the F1 Festivals Operations team, F1 Legal & Compliance team and F1 Finance teams to provide commercial instructions required to finalise activation rights at each Festivals, related contracts and invoicing of clients.

  6. Reporting on previous Festivals: overseeing reporting on performance of F1 Festivals against Key Performance Indicators. This will involve working closely with F1 Research and Strategy teams.

  7. Supporting the Director of Events and Head of Commercial – F1 Festivals to foster an environment with teamwork, honesty and accountability as core values.

  8. To complete all mandatory training within specified timelines.

  9. To operate safely at all times in line with Company health and safety requirements.

  10. To undertake other duties within your capabilities as your Group Manager or Team Leader may assign to you from time to time and to undertake frequent international assignments as required.

About You

All candidates must have a minimum of 7 years' experience in a client relationship management/commercial partnership and/or sales role.

     Essential Knowledge and Skills:

    • Experience in live events or live content delivery (entertainment, music and/or sport) with international experience.
    • Strong skills in developing presentation decks and rights packages for prospective partners.
    • Strong negotiation skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong cultural and geo-political awareness.

    Desirable Criteria:
    • Experience working with a global or multinational media/ entertainment/ sports rights organisation.
    • Experience of dealing with government stakeholders.
    • International experience.
    • Additional languages would be an advantage.
    • Contract management/experience dealing with legal and compliance departments.
