About The Role
We have a sizable team (C#/.NET/Database developers) and are introducing this new role to improve the quality assurance of the software which we produce. 
 

The Senior QA (Quality Assurance) Engineer will be responsible for writing comprehensive test plans, performing system and regression testing, conducting manual and automated testing, across our suite of F1 software products. 

Responsibilities will include recommending best practices for testing software solutions, based on meeting business needs and producing a positive impact on operational effectiveness. 

The candidate will ensure software testing is managed effectively, thoroughly and on time, whilst working in a coherent manner, contributing to the objectives of the R&D Group and overall F1 organisation.  
 

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Design, develop and deploy a software development test strategy, which is consistent and aligned with the overall Research and Development Group objectives and strategy.
  2. Actively participate in knowledge distribution, by supporting/training and advising colleagues in terms of testing best practice, to support and improve quality of our software.
  3. Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and create/manage execution of multiple test plans, to determine if the acceptance criteria are met, and the expected results meet the defined objectives.
  4. Creating multiple test plans to cover all test cycles, for any particular project or business change.
  5. Provide estimates of required testing resources (time, people, skills, environments, tools etc.) for the project/change, to produce test schedules for each phase of testing.
  6. Liaise with Technical Project Managers, Product Owners and wider project stakeholders (which may include 3rd party consultants/suppliers) to identify and propose appropriate resourcing for test phases, whilst establishing and maintaining efficient relations.
  7. Negotiate access and organise configuration/build of suitable test environments.
  8. Complete testing phases in line with Project Plans and Estimates and ensure regular, ongoing visibility of project/task process, by updating relevant JIRA/Confluence channels.
  9. Implementation and usage of multiple tools and best practices for quality assurance.
  10. Determine correct test data requirements and manage accordingly.Identify and solve technical testing challenges when they arise.
  11. Ensure bugs, enhancements and changes within each release cycle for each race are tested, documented and signed off.Provide input regarding risks, schedule, scope and trade-offs.
  12. Flexibility to test concurrent and/or related projects, by understanding and managing testing workloads/testing dependencies and ensuring that Group test resources are allocated efficiently.
  13. Liaise and provide quality reports to the R&D management on a regular basis.
  14. Contribute to post implementation reviews.
  15. Operating safely at all times, in line with Company health and safety requirements.
  16. To undertake other duties within your capabilities, as your manager may assign to you from time to time.
About You
 Experience and Qualifications 
 
Essential 
  • At least 3 years’ Functional testing experience in a Testing role, testing desktop and web applications in a Windows environment
  • Experienced in creating, supporting and executing test plans for manual, automated, UAT and regression testing
  • Experienced in writing technical reports and user documentation
  • Experienced working with Agile development methodology
  • Evaluating existing manual test cases and identify opportunities for automation
Desirable
  • HND or Hons Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • ISTQB Qualified (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) or similar
  •  Web Technologies, Communication Protocols, XML, Relational Databases
  • Experience delivering quality test automation solutions, using various tools (eg. Selenium, RFT, MS Coded UI, Ranorex, Tosca, UFT/QTP etc)
  • Scripting experience
  • Lead experience within Testing Automation to ensure coverage efficiency

Knowledge and Skills 
 
  • Must have a good working knowledge of source control technologies (preferably Perforce and TFS)
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office/JIRA/Confluence or similar applications.
  • Knowledge of black box/white box testing
  • Ability to run investigations into root-cause analysis of failures, hardware or software and recommend solutions to the relevant teams for resolution
