About The Role
We have a sizable team (C#/.NET/Database developers) and are introducing this new role to improve the quality assurance of the software which we produce. 

The Senior QA (Quality Assurance) Engineer will be responsible for writing comprehensive test plans, performing system and regression testing, conducting manual and automated testing, across our suite of F1 software products. 

Responsibilities will include recommending best practices for testing software solutions, based on meeting business needs and producing a positive impact on operational effectiveness. 

The candidate will ensure software testing is managed effectively, thoroughly and on time, whilst working in a coherent manner, contributing to the objectives of the R&D Group and overall F1 organisation.  

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Design, develop and deploy a software development test strategy, which is consistent and aligned with the overall Research and Development Group objectives and strategy.
  2. Identifying, proposing and implementing Automation and Test Management tools from scratch, in parallel with introducing other best practices, collectively for improving our quality assurance.
  3. Champion and support the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) lifecycle performed by Product Owners from the wider business, after the completion of our static, dynamic and eventually automated, testing by the Software team.
  4. Provide estimates of required testing resources (time, people, skills, environments, tools etc.) for the project/change, in order to produce test schedules for each phase of testing.
  5. Optimising our UAT handover/reporting process - ensuring that the Product Owners’ acceptance criteria are met and their UAT sign off is captured in a timely manner.
  6. Creating multiple test plans to cover all test cycles, for any particular project or business change.
  7. Liaise with Technical Project Managers, Product Owners and wider project stakeholders (which may include 3rd party consultants/suppliers) to identify and propose appropriate testing resource, whilst establishing and maintaining efficient relations.
  8. Determine correct test data requirements and manage accordingly.Identify and solve technical testing challenges when they arise.
  9. Negotiate access and organise configuration and build of suitable test environments.
  10. Ensure bugs, enhancements and changes within each release cycle for each race are tested, documented and signed off.Provide input regarding risks, schedule, scope and trade-offs.
  11. Complete testing phases in line with Project Plans and Estimates and ensure regular, ongoing visibility of project/task process, by updating relevant JIRA/Confluence channels.
  12. Flexibility to test concurrent and/or related projects, by understanding and managing testing workloads/testing dependencies and ensuring that Group test resources are allocated efficiently.
  13. Actively participate in knowledge distribution, by supporting, cross-training and advising colleagues, in terms of testing best practice, to support and improve the overall quality of our software.
  14. Liaise and provide quality reports to the R&D management on a regular basis.
  15. Contribute to post implementation reviews.
  16. Operating safely at all times, in line with Company health and safety requirements.
  17. To undertake other duties within your capabilities, as your manager may assign to you from time to time.
About You
 Experience and Qualifications 
  • At least 3 years’ Functional testing experience in a Testing role, testing desktop and web applications in a Windows environment
  • Experienced in delivering quality automated testing solutions for desktop applications from scratch using QA automation tools (eg. TestComplete, Test Studio, Tricentis Tosca, UFT/QTP, Ranorex)                                                       
  • Experienced in evaluating existing manual test cases and identify opportunities for automation
  • Experienced in using JIRA compatible Test Management Tools (eg. Xray), preferably introducing them from scratch
  • Experienced in creating, supporting and executing test plans for manual, automated, UAT and regression testing
  • Experienced in writing technical reports and user documentation, including measurable metrics such as defect density
  • Experienced in working with Agile development methodology
  • HND or Hons Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • ISTQB Qualified (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) or similar
  • Lead experience within Testing Automation
  • Scripting experience
  • Experience delivering quality automated testing solutions forweb applications, using various dedicated tools (eg. Selenium, Katalon, Watir)
  •  Experience working with Web Technologies, Communication Protocols, XML, Relational Databases
  • Experience of various types of non-functional testing techniques (eg. load testing, performance testing, recovery testing, compatibility testing)
Knowledge and Skills 
  • Must have a good working knowledge of source control technologies (preferably Perforce and TFS)
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office/JIRA/Confluence or similar applications.
  • Knowledge of black box/white box testing
  • Ability to run investigations into root-cause analysis of failures, hardware or software and recommend solutions to the relevant teams for resolution

  • Capable of working on large projects and small tasks in parallel
