About The Role
The Digital Department is seeking a Social Media Manager with an outstanding aptitude for the creation, co-ordination and distribution of content across social media and brand channels.
 

The ideal candidate will know how to optimise assets for different channels; be extremely self-motivated; and demonstrate a passion for ideas,innovation and the latest digital and social trends.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Co-ordinate and implement long-term strategic content planning, co-ordination and distribution between F1 and its associated championships
  • Oversee the management of digital asset creation and selection, including creative, supplier liaison and production logistics, for F1 and its associated championships
  • Work in conjunction with various internal and external shareholders - including editorial, graphical, commercial, marketing and communications - regarding the creation, promotion and distribution of content, including branded content and paid partnerships with F1 global partners
  • Design and control an effective budget model, with financial analysis and management to ensure all operations are within scope
  • Serve as first point of liaison between F1 and its appointed social media agency; and between F1 and its teams and drivers
  • Pitch, conceive and help execute innovative and dynamic new content across a year-long calendar, focusing primarily on F1 Grand Prix weekends
  • Community management of F1’s social channels – including the implementation of fan-centred ideas and activations
  • Help oversee a wide range of video operations including pre- and post-production, concept development, storyboarding and execution
  • Work in conjunction with video and graphics teams to ensure creation and delivery of high-quality, engaging and dynamic short-form, shareable video content
  • Conceive and introduce innovative new formats, ideas and concepts – with a particular focus on video and graphics – to shape how F1 presents itself to its fans
  • Stay ahead of the curve on changing trends, and monitor the best practice and examples of rivals and peers in the sport and marketplace
  • Work in a highly pressurised environment, producing outstanding work to tight deadlines and responding calmly and positively to a changing live environment 
  • Balance competing demands by effective prioritisation, ensuring the success of multiple simultaneous projects
  • Maintain the highest possible editorial standards and production values
  • Undertake other duties within your capabilities as your manager may assign to you from time to time
  • Requirement to work weekends, potentially with travel, and provide services at every race on the 2019 F1 calendar

About You

The ideal candidate should be a strong digital all-rounder with proven experience of delivering content that drives audience reach and engagement, particularly for sporting brands. The role requires an all-round knowledge and understanding of both F1 and the wider digital landscape, with the ideal candidate being extremely proficient in communication, strategic planning, social listening and community management.

Qualifications:
  • Degree educated or equivalent
Experience:
  • Experience of conceiving, producing and distributing social-first video
  • Experience of working as part of a digital news team
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Creativity and ability to translate this into engaging and dynamic moving content designed to work across different social platforms
  • Several years’ experience in digital sport operations
  • Superb organisation and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Substantial experience in social media content planning and distribution for large audiences
  • A thorough knowledge of Formula 1 and informed interest in a wide range of other sports. Knowledge of F1’s output, particularly Online & digital
  • Proven editorial judgement, flair and the ability to make valid decisions quickly
  • Proficiency in directing and producing video and creative imagery
  • Ability to work under own initiative and prioritise work effectively on a series of simultaneous projects
  • Ability to apply sound judgement in the course of identifying and implementing the best possible production solutions, advising senior staff accordingly
  • Experience of a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and conflicting priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail in all forms of work
  • Best in class experience of working with and servicing internal and external clients and accounts

  • Must be able to work weekends in sync with the F1 calendar (including shifts, occasionally overnight, at F1’s Biggin Hill office in Kent). Time off in lieu is given for weekend work
